Child & Social Services

About our Child & Social Services Practice

The Australian Child & Social Service sectors continue to undergo immense change and growth across all service lines as the economic landscape, social constructs and family dynamics continue to evolve. This includes child protection and family support, homelessness and low-income housing, domestic violence and alcohol & other drug (AOD) services.

In 2021-2022, one in 33 children aged 0-17 were recipients of the child protection system nationally. Over half of these children were repeat recipients with children in remote areas being three times more likely to require services in comparison to those in major cities. Across all states and territories, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children were up to ten times more likely to come into contact with the system.

Additionally, the number one cause of homelessness in Australia is domestic violence with more than 70,000 Australian’s seeking housing and shelter support annually. In addition to family and domestic violence, the rising cost of living and subsequent housing crisis has created a need for more housing and accommodation support services in our community than ever before.

As organisations attempt to combat competitive margins, Royal Commissions and talent shortages, organisations of the future are achieving operational efficiencies through workforce redesign and staff engagement strategies whilst elevating their internal capability through additional training.

In times of significant social requirement, Orchard’s support is absolute. Our role is to partner with organisations to enhance workforce capability and capacity. Delivering fast, flexible and reliable talent solutions is our aim so that providers can enhance the outcomes of their service.

Our approach includes; single search, interim appointment or holistic workforce volume campaigns.
