Non-Executive Director, Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect)
The Opportunity
The Board of Aspect is seeking a new Non-Executive Director to help the organisation maintain sustainability and achieve its strategic goals. With the other members of the Board, the new Non-Executive Director will set the strategic direction for the organisation, provide cultural leadership, oversee compliance and the management of risk, and monitor performance in relation to agreed priorities and activities. The Non-Executive Director will bring energy, ideas and diligence at a significant time for the organisation’s development and growth.
The responsibilities of the new Non-Executive Director will include:
- Living Aspect’s values and ensuring the activities of the organisation reflect and deliver on its mission.
- Promoting a positive culture at the Board table, which encourages participation, facilitation of discussion and debate.
- Relationship building across the Board, management, and broader Aspect team.
- Promoting an environment that ensures contributions of all directors are welcomed and heard.
- Providing advice and counsel to the CEO.
About You
Aspect is seeking candidates with demonstrated Board experience who bring significant senior management capability. Candidates will need to address how they will commit to and support the organisation’s positive, open and engaged Board culture. In addition, candidates will be able
to demonstrate:
- A strong commitment to providing the best possible opportunities for people on the autism spectrum.
- An understanding of the organisation’s strategic objectives and how the Board can support the achievement of these objectives.
- Executive experience in the disability support sector, particularly within the not-for-profit context, and a profound understanding of the importance of quality service delivery.
- The ability to navigate complex challenges with empathy and understanding.
